The "International Caring for Life Awards" (ICLA) is designed to select and recognize people who in keeping with the philosophy of "Devotion, Service and Compassion" have contributed to social improvement and harmonious development. The award winners are presented with a statued trophy, certificate and cash prize, and encouraged to continue their important role in promotion of suicide prevention work in the future . The awards are intended to:

(1) Produce role models that will encourage more interested people to become involved in public welfares.

(2) Promote greater awareness of the importance of suicide prevention among the general public and the government so they will recognize the value and contributions made by social workers.

(3) Enhance and encourage the participation in the global civil society through the public presentation of awards,.

(4) Encourage the general public to respect, cherish and care for life.
